85) How (& Why) to Balance Masculine & Feminine Energy in your Digital Nomad Business
Today I want to turn you on to the topic of masculine and feminine energy and how masculine and feminine energy are actually really important concepts when it comes to building a digital nomad business that feels sustainable for you. Building your digital nomad business is all about balance and even having the energy to do so. I’ve seen entrepreneurs with too much masculine energy burn out and quit their businesses and then entrepreneurs who make no money because they are too tapped into their feminine energy.
So today I want to explain how you can create this balance so you can live a thriving life as a digital nomad with vibrant creative energy and sustainable income in your business.

Christa: [00:00:00] Hey there and welcome to the Digital Nomad Life Podcast. I'm your host Krista, also known as @christabellatravels on Instagram, and I always say my handle at the beginning of every episode because I want to encourage you to reach out if you have any questions about how you personally can, one, become a digital nomad yourself, or two, maximize your life as a digital nomad.
Both of these areas are my specialty. Personally, I've been a digital nomad ever since 2013 when I first ever One way plane ticket to Thailand. And ever since then, I've been living abroad, traveling to dozens of countries. Like I'll probably hit 70 countries at some point over the next 12 months. Yeah, I said 70.
And over the past five years of my decade plus long digital nomad career, I actually have started specializing in helping other people become digital nomads. I've taken all my experience meeting thousands of other digital nomads. [00:01:00] of my failed business attempts and all of my successful business attempts, plus my, I don't know, 15 year marketing experience.
And I've rolled it all into something called the Digital Nomad Life Academy, where I help people one, figure out what is the best digital nomad career
business for them to create. And two, how to actually create that business and how to market that business. Meanwhile, introducing you to hundreds of other digital nomads, too. So the topic of today was actually inspired by a call that I had earlier inside of the Digital Nomad Life Academy, where one of my clients was talking about how he doesn't really have the energy to be working on his digital nomad business.
He has a nine to five job. So he was saying that he, you know, wakes up early, has this shitty commute, goes to work for eight plus hours a day, has that shitty commute back home. And he's got a couple of kids, so he hangs out with his kids. And then at the end of the day, [00:02:00] when that's when he has some time to actually work on his business, he doesn't have the energy to work on it.
So I thought, wow, this is actually such an important topic because I think that we all can resonate with the idea of not having the energy to do the thing that we want to do. And I think it's important to distinguish. Energy from motivation because this particular client I know is an incredibly motivated person.
And I also know that even incredibly motivated people can be burnt out. It's not that they didn't get enough sleep that day. It's that literally they don't have the energy within to be working on the thing that they care about. So, first of all, if you are having an experience where you really want to create something in your life, but you simply don't feel that you have the bandwidth, just because you're spending a few hours a day watching TV or scrolling on your phone when you quote, could or should be working on your [00:03:00] business, be working on your dreams,
just because you have the time. And you slept enough last night. It doesn't necessarily mean that you will have the energy to be working on your business, to be working towards your dreams. So I want to address why that might be. And when I talk about why you might not be having that energy, I want to take a holistic overview of life as we know it, kind of like the way that we operate in society based off of the expectations that are put upon us.
And I also want to turn you on to this topic of masculine and feminine energy and how masculine and feminine energy are actually really, really important concepts when it comes to building a business that feels sustainable for you. And just as a little teaser, whether you are a man or a woman or something in between or something non binary.
Everybody has masculine and feminine energy within them. But sometimes we [00:04:00] lean more into one or the other. And if we are imbalanced in our masculine and feminine energy within, This is what leads to burnout and when we are burnt out, again, it doesn't matter how much sleep you got and it doesn't matter how much free time you have, you will not have the energy to do what you want to do, even if you're super motivated.
Burnout is real and it comes from having an imbalance of these masculine and feminine energies. So I want to talk about what to do if you are in that situation and how to know if your masculine and feminine energy is imbalanced.
Now, before I start defining what masculine and feminine energy is and why it's so relevant to your business success, I also want to introduce one more concept, which is that of an energetic exchange in business.
I mean, these concepts of masculine and feminine energy and an energetic exchange will apply to literally every area of your life. But today we're talking about business. Today we're talking about making money from [00:05:00] anywhere. Today, we are talking about entrepreneurship.
We're talking about how something that you give to the world will, in the end,
be half of the exchange in your business. The other half is that you're receiving money, so you're getting paid. And you receive money, you get money, you are getting paid with money because you are giving something else to the receiver. You're giving them some kind of offer. a product, a service,
your knowledge or wisdom. If we want anything that we do in life to be sustainable, there needs to be an even energetic exchange. Now it doesn't need to be Completely tit for tat. But if I, for example, am here putting so much energy into this podcast, right? Like every single one of these episodes, they're about an hour long and, um, I have to do a lot of planning to come up with the subject matter.
I actually have to [00:06:00] make sure that I have had a good night's sleep and that I've had my coffee and then I'm fed and that I'm clear brain so that I can create the subject matter. So that I can create the content and then I invest money into my podcast editor and then she puts an energy to Edit the thing and then publish the thing.
So there's a lot of energy that's coming from me that I am putting out into the world And I've been able to do this sustainably like I think I'm at Yeah, like 85 episodes at this point and why have I had the energy to be doing this? Why have I had the energy to be putting out so much content for free?
Well, it's because the exchange for me is even enough. For me, I'm putting out all this energy because in the end, I receive people who are aware of my business. And even if there are thousands of people who become aware of my business with every single [00:07:00] episode,
I only actually need a few people to turn into customers and clients in order for my needs to be met in order for me to feel compensated by the free energy that I am giving out in the form of this podcast. . So I want you to think about that concept and think about are there any areas of your life or your business where the energetic exchange is not feeling even where you are giving, giving, giving way more than you are receiving.
And if you are ever in that situation, that is when aspects of your business or your life, your relationships, for example. feel uneven and then therefore they are not sustainable. So if you think about romantic relationships, if you are giving, giving, giving, giving, giving, and you're never receiving from your partner, like if you are giving them lots of attention, you're giving them lots of love.
You're [00:08:00] giving them lots of favors or you're doing so many services for them and they're not doing anything for you. They're not loving you enough. They're not giving you enough attention. Then the energetic exchange is uneven and therefore you as a romantic partner will feel underappreciated or even burnt out or drained by the relationship.
So, when I talk about the energy exchange, I know on a surface level this might sound really woo woo, this could sound really like new age spiritual, etc. But actually, it's really just psychology. I just like to use spiritual sounding words because that's just my vibe, like that's how I see the world. But ultimately, The truth is that we are all energetic beings.
Yes, we are physical, made out of cells, and we have some matter in us, but we're so much more than our physical body. We are the energy inside of our body, and we operate in the world with our primary resource of our energy. Now let me give you another example of [00:09:00] an energetic exchange in business, because of course, again, this is a business podcast.
And here's one that I think will be relevant to a lot of my listeners, especially the newbie entrepreneurs out there. So what often happens at the beginning of people's businesses that can lead them to quit their business before it takes off or lead them to feeling like, Oh no, this business is not sustainable.
I can't do this for much longer. is when they've spent all of this time and energy. creating their business. Maybe they've made their first offer and now they're saying that they want a beta client because they want to get experience. So they tell someone, Hey, I know how to do graphic design and I would love to do graphic design for you for free.
So that person says, Oh, okay. Amazing. Yeah. I have all these projects that I need a graphic designer for. So they give you the project. And at first this. Relationship, it feels like an even exchange because you are getting, you are [00:10:00] receiving experience. But there can come a point, and it's a very fine line when this happens, that let's say you're actually doing a really good job with your graphic design, but that client, that beta client that you're working with, they can't make up their goddamn mind.
Or they keep extending the project, or they don't get back to you in enough time. So somehow, this project that you were willing to give your all to in exchange for some experience, now suddenly it feels like complete unpaid labor. And that doesn't feel very cool. Nobody wants to be in that situation.
Especially not business owners, new business owners who are trying to make some money.
When the energetic exchange is not even, your business will fail. Point blank.
So if you just heard from that example, the energetic exchange doesn't have to be money. what you're exchanging for your offer could be something like experience or a testimonial, but you always need to make sure that what you are receiving [00:11:00] in that exchange is equal to what you believe you are giving out.
And if it's not, you will be drained. And when you are drained, you've lost your most precious resource in business. And now you do not have the energy to carry on. So that is why your energy is so, so, so important and why it really needs to be protected in your business. This is also why your pricing matters so much.
One thing that I always tell my clients is don't go look at what your competitors are charging. Instead, price your services from a place of within where you can actually feel like, okay, the work that I'm doing, the work that I'm putting out there. If I made this amount of money for it, I would feel happy.
I would feel compensated. I would feel satisfied. And therefore. This price is sustainable for me. And if you ever get to a point where you feel like you are putting out too much energy into the world, [00:12:00] into your business, into your clients, into your customers, and you're not receiving enough, then that's when you know that it's time to either raise your prices or start scaling your business.
I think that for a lot of people that work at a job or that have a boss or something, usually do not have an even energy exchange the longer that they stay at that company. Well, the longer that they stay at that company and don't get promoted, that is, or don't get a raise, that is. So, when you are working at a job, you're working at a company, you're employed by someone, they say, okay, the energetic exchange is that you sit in this desk for 40 hours a week and we give you this amount of money.
And at first, that energetic exchange hopefully feels fair enough for you. But as you get further and further along into that job, you get more and more experience.
You start putting in overtime.
[00:13:00] You find other ways to provide value to that company. So you know that what you're giving, your energy that you are putting into that company, is raising higher. But when you are not being compensated higher, now the energetic exchange is off. And what happens when the energetic exchange is off, is that you start to feel resentful.
And resentment, this low vibe energy, starts depleting your resource of energy. And what happens when you have no energy to start showing up for work? You start doing not such a good job. And then when your company sees, oh wow, this person, we are giving them this salary. We are giving them this amount of money.
But they're not giving us the energy that we need in order for our compensation to feel fair. Now what happens is you end up getting fired.
So again, the energetic exchange always needs to be even, it always needs [00:14:00] to be equal, not in a tit for tat kind of way. You're not changing money back and forth, but you're changing energy for compensation. So wherever you're at in your business, if you're feeling burnt out, I want you to look at what areas are you giving energy?
Energy, where are you? showing up for others or for your business in a way that you are not feeling fairly compensated. And when you can identify those areas, you will be able to more quickly combat any potential burnout that is on the horizon for you. Now that's the concept of an energetic exchange. And why money is such a big part of an energetic exchange.
But I also wanted to talk about this concept of masculine and feminine energy. Because this is a more nuanced way to think about that energetic exchange. And to think about the direction that your energy is actually moving into. So if we are looking at this [00:15:00] kind of continuum of energy, right? I'm imagining just like a long straight line and you are at one end, like you're actually the source of a lot of energy.
And on the other side is your customer, the person that is receiving your energy and that customer hopefully is sending you back a parallel line of money. Okay. And in the middle of you, And your customer in the middle of that line is your business. So the energy that ultimately your client receives has to pass through your business.
Now, if we can zoom in to the half of the line that stretches between you and your business, there's actually another set of lines. Another set of an energetic pathway of a two way energetic pathway that goes from you to your business and back to you. So what you need to understand is that inside of you, you have both masculine and feminine energy and you need to be putting both of them into your [00:16:00] business.
And when you do that evenly, your business will also send back to you an equal amount of masculine and feminine energy. Now, bear with me. Let me define masculine and feminine energy in relation to business, and that will help you understand what I mean and why it is so important.
Okay, so on the topic of masculine and feminine energy, what we need to understand is that they are actually two categories of things that happen inside of us that require energy or things that we do that require energy. So there are a lot of things that we do in our business that require energy. For example, two things that we need in our business that require energy are both our creative ideas And our discipline to actually show up and do the work on a day to day basis.
Now out of these two things, creative ideas and discipline, the creative idea would be [00:17:00] categorized in the feminine energy and the discipline to show up and do the work would be categorized as something in the masculine energy.
You actually need both of these energies to coexist at the same time in order for the business to work at all. Let's use a really simple example to understand the two different energies and I'll use the example of a lemonade stand. Most simple business out there. So the masculine energy behind your lemonade stand would be the part that says, okay, we need a plan.
Let's decide where to set up the stand. Let's make a schedule for when we're going to be open and when we're going to close. Let's count how much money we need in order to buy the lemons and the cups. And let's make sure that we prepare and have enough lemonade so that we don't run out during the day.
Let's imagine how many customers we might have and then we'll be able to know how much to make. So all of that, that kind of the structure, the planning, the strategy, all of that [00:18:00] has to do with the masculine energy inside of the business. Now the feminine energy that needs to be matched with the masculine energy might include Who's the person at the lemonade stand?
And are they kind? Are they good with customer service? Do they make their clients or customers feel seen, heard, and understood? Do the customers enjoy coming up to the lemonade stand? What happens when the customers come up to the lemonade stand? What's their experience? Are they hearing music? Are they greeted with a smile?
Are they seeing a bright and colorful sign? Do the cups have their names written on it? This lemonade stand will be more successful, the more kind of soft, creative qualities there are that go into the business. Now someone might have predominantly feminine energy when it comes to their business. And then in that case, in the example of the lemonade stand, somebody might say, wow, it would be so cool to have [00:19:00] a lemonade stand and I could imagine the sign looking like this.
And wouldn't it be so cute if we put little puppy stickers all over each cup and then we actually had a whole bunch of puppies hanging around the lemonade stand. That would be so cute. The customers would love it. And I'm so good with customer service. I would be amazing to run a lemonade stand. But if they don't actually have that masculine energy behind it, like the, okay, what's the plan?
How are we going to do this? Where are we going to buy the lemons? How much profit are we going to make? How long do we need to be out there in order for this to be worth it? Then this lemonade stand ends up being just a dream that really never comes to fruition. Or if it does come to fruition, it's not successful.
It's not sustainable. It's not making enough money. And therefore, yeah, again, it's not, it's simply not sustainable if it's not making enough money. Now, I think what a lot of people think is good business is when there's so much masculine energy. Let's calculate our profits and losses.
Let's make sure that we get the cheapest lemons. [00:20:00] Hell, maybe we don't even need real lemons. Maybe we can just use lemon juice. Then that'll help us make even more money. And oh, let's just take a little piece of paper and write the word lemonade on it and that'll attract customers far and wide. No, it won't.
No, it will not. A business that is completely operating out of masculine energy is probably going to be one that's pretty boring, not very attractive or enticing to the ideal customer. It's not creative and it's just not fulfilling. And a business that is completely operating and it's feminine is probably not going to be making very much money.
You do need both of these energies in harmony in order for your business to have success. Now, hear me, every single business has both masculine and feminine energy in it. So, I will give you my business as an example. Now, if you're not familiar with my business, there's actually a lot of moving parts to it.
[00:21:00] So I'll try to explain it briefly just to put this on to context. But basically, when you join the Digital Nomad Life Academy, or the DNLA, you get access to the five Cs, which is career clarity, coaching, coursework, community and character development. So, if we take the first C, the career clarity, someone comes into the program and they say, Krista, I don't know what to do for my digital nomad business.
So I say, all right, you gotta, you gotta do this, you gotta do this, you gotta do this so that I can help you. So I give them a bunch of videos, I give them a course, I give them homework assignments. I give them a structure to follow. This masculine energy in my business allows my customers to feel very safe because actually whether it's business or a relationship or just life in general, the key purpose of the masculine energy in our world in general is to create a sense of safety.
That's why, traditionally, it is men, [00:22:00] or the masculine energy, that are the warriors, the protectors, the fighters. The defenders, they are the defender of the feminine and the feminine is the life force. The feminine is the creation. The feminine is the nurturer and we need both of these things in order for our society in order for humanity to grow and flourish.
So anyway, back to the example of my business, I give my client all of this masculine energy. Do this, do this, do this, follow this, follow this, and that helps the client be like, okay, wow. I feel so good. Just in case you haven't already, if you haven't subscribed to my channel, make sure structure and discipline and again a strategy.
But then when we get on the career assessment call, which is what happens after the client does all this homework and all this work, I get on this call with my client who's now filled out this big worksheet and I say okay
I'm here [00:23:00] to listen. I'm here to understand you. I'm here to see you. I'm here to help you. I'm here to hold space for you. I'm here to help you surface your emotions. I'm here to help you you. Think creatively, to think outside the box, to see your future, to fulfill your dreams. And when I get to show up in person with my client on a call, now I get to operate in my feminine energy.
What I'm not doing on that call is just saying, okay, do this, do this, do this. Because if that were the case now, that would be me completely in my masculine energy. And sure, maybe I would be able to help my client come up with a business idea that makes them money, but it probably wouldn't help them feel fulfilled.
And what I really care about, what my gift is, what my offering is, what my output energy is to the world is, hey, do you want to have a business that allows you [00:24:00] to have freedom and fulfillment? So if I didn't have my feminine energy present on those calls, I wouldn't be holding up my end of the bargain and I wouldn't be aligned with what my marketing is.
Marketing, by the way, is also something that has both feminine and masculine energy within it. Let's take a social media marketing strategy, and we can look at one that is operating in its feminine and one that is operating only in its masculine, and we can see how one that has a perfect balance of masculine and feminine energy will perform the best.
So, a social media manager. What they probably need to do is have a structure of the way that they operate and the way they offer their services. So what they probably will do is they will meet with their client once or twice a month and they'll say, okay, how many posts do we want to make this month?
What's our strategy? What time of day is going to be the best? What hashtags are we going to use? What trends are going viral [00:25:00] right now? And all that masculine energy will be present on that strategy call with their client. But the feminine energy will be
really listening to the client and understanding what's their sense of humor. What's the value that they're really offering to their customers? What is it that they're really trying to express? And how can we do all of that in the most creative, attention getting kind of way? How can we make this content unique and thoughtful and expressive and creative?
That's the feminine energy that is what's going to make that structure of the social media strategy go viral. It's the creative content, the one that makes us feel emotions when we're scrolling. That's the content that goes viral. The content that does not go viral is a content that just gets posted at 5pm every single day and is the same content every single day.
That gets boring for people. It's not interesting. It's not unique. So it doesn't go viral. Consistency. Yes, that [00:26:00] masculine part. of the social media strategy, super, super, super important. But consistency doesn't matter if your content isn't interesting or creative. Or unique, or emotional. And content that is super creative, unique, emotional, amazing.
It could go viral, but that's not a great strategy. You also need to be doing that consistently. And the only way for you to actually be consistent is for you to have some kind of strategy. And to be disciplined on executing that strategy and to actually be showing up for it
back to my business, right? I told you that I have the five C's in it. So we talked about career clarity, but then the coaching aspect So the coaching aspect of my business has both masculine and feminine energy in it The masculine energy of my coaching is that I have a calendar up that all of my clients can see so they know exactly When the calls are happening And I have a structure to it.
We start off at the breakout room so people can mingle and meet each other. And then I say, [00:27:00] okay, right in the chat, me, if you want me to prioritize you. So I have that system. People know what to expect and they can therefore feel safe on that call. But then when I call on them, when it's their turn.
Through my communication, through my ability to hold space, through my ability to ask them reflective questions, that also allows them to express themselves, feel heard, seen, and understood, and that allows creativity to actually flourish. And therefore, they are able to receive so much from that coaching experience.
If we talk about the coursework that's inside of the Digital Nomad Life Academy, that has both masculine and feminine energy in it too. The masculine energy that I had to utilize in order to create the, I don't even know, hundred hours of content that's inside of the DNLA. I had to think in advance, okay, what is it that I want to teach?
What order do I want to teach it in? What software am I going to use to make the slides to record the content? [00:28:00] Where am I going to upload it? Do I want to pay in full or do I want to pay a subscription basis? Those are all the masculine energy qualities of the coursework of my program. But the feminine energy is about my delivery of the content itself.
What do the slides look like? I thought about the font and the color schemes. Are they attractive? Are they interesting for people to look at? Is the content delivered in a way that's not going to trigger or offend anybody? Is it going to resonate with them?
Am I seeming warm and approachable on those videos? Do I invite people to ask me questions? Do I show up as someone who seems like a safe, trustworthy person that can hold space for them if they do have questions? The way that I show up and the energy that I have in those videos is the feminine energy that I'm bringing into my business.
Now, I know there are two other C's. The community and the character development, but I actually want to [00:29:00] talk about the behind the scenes aspect of my business because now I think that's going to be more relevant to you and your business. So in the behind the scenes, the masculine energy things that I have to do in my business is showing up like the freaking CEO of my business.
I need to have a schedule for when I'm going to work. And I need to have the discipline to actually sit down at my desk and do that work, which can be kind of hard to do when you're working for yourself. But it's necessary because there are so many distractions when we no longer have an employer. When we have all the time in the day, well, we might want to go to the beach because we're in Mexico.
We might want to go to a football game because we're in Colombia. We might want to go to a digital nomad meetup because we're in Lisbon and all those things are amazing. That's the, that's the lifey life stuff that makes the digital nomad life so fun, but the digital nomad life can't exist. It can't flourish unless [00:30:00] we have a business, unless we have money coming in.
So therefore we need to show up with discipline. Discipline.
We need to harness our discipline so that we can have the fun, feminine. exciting parts of the lifestyle.
And so this fun part of the digital nomad life, the creative part of your business, the fulfilling side of your life, of your career, all of that is what should inspire the masculine energy of your business. We don't do our taxes because it's fun. That's another really masculine energy thing that we have to do in our business.
So we don't do it because it's fun. We don't do it because we just literally just do it because we have to but it's worth it because If we build our business in a balanced way It will allow us to have
the fun and the inspiration and the freedom that we are working towards So that's on balance. That's on balancing the masculine and feminine [00:31:00] energy in your business And I hope that all of this has inspired you To take a critical look at where your energy is going in your business. So, remember that line that I described to you earlier on in the episode, so it's the one continuum line that goes from you to your customer, but in the middle of it is your business.
And then if you zoom in to the half of the line that goes between you and your business, the masculine feminine energy, both of those lines need to be
evenly emphasized if you want the energy that goes from you to your business and back to you to be sustainable. When you put in masculine energy into your business, your business becomes stronger, like a strong masculine. Your business becomes safer. Your business becomes more secure. And when you put in more feminine energy into your business, when you infuse it with creativity, with [00:32:00] inspiration,
What you receive from your business is more fulfillment, satisfied customers, a deeper sense of purpose. And that is the energetic exchange as well between you and your business. So, if you're putting in so much energy into your business and you don't feel that you are receiving enough from your business in order for it to be sustainable, I want you to ask yourself, is it the masculine energy or the feminine energy that you are outputting into your business that is overemphasized or underemphasized?
Where is the imbalance happening? Now, keep in mind that part of the masculine energy that goes into the business is the consistency. It's the dedication.
It's the willingness to show up every single day, even though it's hard. And it is hard. It's especially hard at the beginning. [00:33:00] At the beginning of your business, you are going to need to output more energy because remember you are the source. You are the, you are the beginning of the continuum. You are the fire that ignites the continuum.
So, in order for that fire to go, in order for your energy to reach all the way to your first paying customer, you are going to need to be outputting more than what you receive, at least at first. And that is okay. Ultimately, if you continue to show up with the dedication and with the consistency, I promise you, you will end up receiving from your business.
But don't forget to make it fun. Don't forget to stay inspired. Don't forget to keep your purpose and the fulfillment that this business will bring you in mind. And for the record, this fulfillment and purpose that you hear me speaking of on pretty much every single episode, it doesn't only have to come in the form of you and the service that you're [00:34:00] offering to the world being something that betters humanity in like a really profound way.
I mean, I tend to believe that every business benefits humanity in some way, otherwise the energetic exchange would be off and that kind of business would never work. So a business that works does give, contribute to society in some way. But something that I do hear from a lot of my clients is they feel that their business isn't quote helping anyone.
The kind of people that say things like this, they might be say, yeah, like freelancer type things like they're. Building a website or something. So someone might say, yeah, I'm building websites, but I don't feel fulfilled by this kind of work. And it's like, okay, well, if you can build a website, and you can get paid for it,
maybe what you're not receiving is direct fulfillment from the website creation process. But what you could be receiving. is money that is [00:35:00] independent of your location. And therefore, that can give you the safety and security and ability to be wherever you want. To go be in Hawaii, for example, or to be in Greece, or spending more time with your grandparents.
This is actually why I'm really so passionate about remote work, about digital nomadism, because no matter what work you're doing, Um, as long as that work allows you to be free, you get to receive so much from that work. Um, I didn't really share much of my story or my background in this episode and many other episodes.
I do share more details, but, um, something that I want you to know about me is that before I started my coaching business, I was already a digital nomad for many years and I was actually working at different tech startups and I was doing marketing and I have. I think about eight or nine years of professional [00:36:00] marketing experience under my belt before I even started my business.
So I was always doing marketing work and sometimes the thing that I was marketing was something that was pretty boring, like pretty unfulfilling for me. I've had to market for probate lawyers, for foot doctors, for appliance repair people, and I've also gotten to do marketing work for some cooler things like wedding photographers.
Tech startups, real estate agents, like I've gotten to do some cool marketing stuff and I've gotten to do some not so cool marketing stuff. But the thing is, even when I was not feeling super inspired by the subject matter of the thing that I was marketing, as long as the thing that I was marketing, the work was allowing me to be compensated from anywhere in the world, my life was so fulfilling.
I mean, I got to get paid and be in Colombia and be in Mexico and be in Greece. I got [00:37:00] to be paid to travel the world, essentially. And for that, I was so grateful. And that allowed me to feel that even though the exchange that was happening was not this direct like, I'm inspired by my work and that my work inspires me.
My work wasn't inspiring, but my work was allowing my life to be inspiring, and therefore that energetic exchange felt more than equal. Because I was grateful, I showed up for my marketing job. The one that was completely location independent that gave me this dream lifestyle. So, to really take this whole episode back home, right, at the very beginning you heard me talk about my client who, you know, he's just really feeling like the energetic exchange is off.
He does, he does not have the energy, or he was saying that anyway, he doesn't have the energy every day to be showing up for his business. And that's because the work that he's doing is depleting him. It's not the [00:38:00] work itself that he said is the issue, but it's everything around it. It's the commute. It's the way that he feels from his lifestyle.
That's what's draining him. And the reason why he wants to build a business It's not because he had this business idea that was just bursting through him and he was like, I have to build this thing. But he actually came to me having no idea what he wanted his business to be. But he was like, I still want a business because I want to be fulfilled in other areas of my life.
I want to spend more time with my kids. I want to be able to raise my kids in more creative and alternative ways. And he can't do that when he has so much structure of his commute and his nine to five. So, luckily, on his career assessment, we were able to come up with a business idea for him that resonated a lot and makes him feel excited and he's, he is actually genuinely excited about the subject matter of his business.
But even if he weren't, right, even if it [00:39:00] were kind of like a basic boring business that he didn't feel was like exceptionally unique to him or whatever, as long as that business would be able to create some income for him from wherever that would set him free and then that will allow him. to fill up his cup in other areas, like spending more time with his kids, raising them in the way that he really wants to, because he now has the time.
And another thing that I want to say about this is, um, cause I'm, I'm actually just really thinking about a lot of my clients right now. Like the thing is the work that I do. Obviously, I really care about people feeling fulfilled by their career. To me, this is like my calling in life. It's my mission.
It's my purpose. And I'm so grateful that I get to live out my purpose within my career. I didn't always do this, right at, at the beginning of my career for, for the first decade plus of my career, I spent many years. doing work that was not [00:40:00] super fulfilling, but I was working towards the fulfilling part of my work, or I was working towards a super fulfilling career.
Sometimes when you are young, when you are inexperienced, when you're just starting out, it simply is not It's always possible for you, for you to have complete location independence and a thriving, a financially thriving business and to be doing work that is like your true essence and your gift to the planet.
Like I wish that for you and I know that you can get there, but sometimes it's step by step by step. So if you're listening to this episode and you're like, I really want to change my life. I want to become a digital nomad. Just know that. Like, it's a process, right? The energetic exchange, it does have to start with that source.
That source is you, and that source will get bigger and brighter and [00:41:00] more magnetic and more powerful the longer that you work at it. Essentially, your energy towards your business will be cultivated over time. So my advice for you, if you're someone who you don't know what it is that you want to do for your digital nomad business, you just know that your energy is depleted in some area of your life and you want to have more fun and more fulfillment and more freedom.
First of all, we've got to get you clarity on what digital nomad business you want to create. And that is a service that I offer. Like I said, it's called the Career Assessment Process. And you can slide into my DMs on Instagram at KristaBellaTravels and ask about it. Um, if you send me the keyword 85, because this is episode 85, then I will respond with some information about the career assessment process.
Again, that's ChristabellaTravels on Instagram, and the keyword is just the number 85, like the digits, 85. So you don't need to [00:42:00] have that digital nomad business idea yet in order to start working with me, I support you with that. And then on that career assessment call, you and I are going to talk about what would be the best path for you moving forward that will get you as close.
To a fulfilling career as possible. Based on your current situation. Based on your current level of experience, you can trust that my goal is to help you create a fulfilling career for sure, but sometimes you just need to make some money first. Sometimes you just got to set yourself free. Sometimes you just need to understand how to build a business and that experience of just building a business of learning how to make money from anywhere of learning how to market yourself independent of having a physical.
location or a physical local community to market to. Sometimes you need to learn that. And through that experience, you will then get closer to understanding what is [00:43:00] really the kind of thing that's going to fulfill you within your career. But in the meantime, when you do have a business. That you can run from anywhere, that can make you money from anywhere, that you can market from anywhere, that will give you a whole bunch
of energy for you to keep moving forward to creating that completely fulfilling life and career for yourself. I hope that what I just said makes sense. I, like, feel that this topic makes so much sense to me, but then actually putting it into words, talking to just a stranger, like, whoever you are listening to this, I can't see your face.
I don't know what background you have. I don't know what experience you have. I don't know what area of the world you're listening from. Like, I'm just really putting a message out there, hoping that it lands on someone's ears that resonates with it. Someone that is like, yeah, Krista, you're just saying the words that I needed to hear in order to give me the motivation and the validation [00:44:00] that what I want is possible.
That what I want is reasonable to ask for. And it is, okay? You, I, you can have your cake and eat it too. You can have your dream life. If you want it though, you can't listen to people that tell you that energy is woo woo. You can't listen to people that tell you that no one has a career that they truly love.
You cannot listen to people that have never built a business themselves. Okay, if you want to change your life and you are ready to be an entrepreneur, don't you dare take advice from someone who is an employee because it is a completely different mindset. It's a completely different way of approaching the world.
And keep in mind that an entrepreneur who has a physical business is going to think really differently about business than a person who has a location independent business or a remote business or a digital nomad business. So just saying, if you want to have a digital nomad [00:45:00] business. Take advice from someone who also has a digital nomad business.
And if that person is saying that your energy is your most precious resource and the thing that matters the absolute most, well, I think that you should pay attention to that. Okay, but that's just my opinion. Anyway, um, if you resonated with this episode, like I said, slide into my DMs at Cristabella Travels, send me the keyword 85 and we can talk about Getting you set up either with a career assessment process or just get you straight into the DNLA.
Again, the Digital Nomad Life Academy. Um, and I would like to humbly request that you leave a review for me specifically on Apple Podcasts. Recently, I had someone leave me a super mean, unnecessary review on there. Someone who got super offended that I interviewed somebody who had astrology as part of his business.
Why people get so triggered by astrology, I really don't [00:46:00] know. But anyway, this person thinks that I am a fraud who only coaches coaches who coach coaches. Which, obviously, that person does not understand anything about what I do. They did not listen to my philosophy. They don't know me, because I think if they did know me, they would know that I'm coming from a place of I'm not just encouraging people to go into coaching, I'm encouraging people to create businesses that are authentic and unique to who they are as a person, which involves a million different business options.
That's why I do the career assessment process, which I mention on every single episode, but you know, some people are just committed to their Deep unhappiness and like to project it on to other people and personally as a public figure Sometimes I receive that so it would be such a huge gift to me if you could leave a kind review on Apple podcast specifically and let's just push that other not so nice review further down or you know What if you [00:47:00] hate this episode, but you still are here listening to the whole thing Why why are you doing that?
No, I'm sure that if you're here and you actually listened that at least you vibed somewhat. So for that, I want to say thank you so much. I love how my episodes can reach people who are just the vibe from all over the world. And I hope that I get to chat with you. in my DMs. Again, that is KristaBellaTravels on Instagram or you can scroll down into the show notes and let's talk.
Let's talk about how you can change your life, change your energy, change your vibe, change your situation and create that dream life that I know is just waiting for you to seize. Thanks for listening. Have a great day and see you in the next episode. Bye.
